Day 62 -Stanley - Saturday 17th December 2011
Honk Hong is great for a lay-in!! Again we woke at about 9.30am but didn't see the light of day until about 12pm. We loved the Australian Dairy breakfast so much (and its cheap!) that we wanted to go back there again! We walked through the Koloon park but not before stopping at the lady on the corners stall to get two freshly squeezed oranges - lovely! The park is awesome, not only does it have WIFI but it also has a public baths, an avery, loads of ponds with terrapins and huge fish but also displays and two full size football pitches. A leisurely walk through away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets is so nice. At the other end of the park we cross two roads and then queue for about 20min until seated for chicken soup with macaroni and pork, scrambled eggs and toast with a milky coffee!! Today we were heading for Stanley market with is about 50mins away on Hong Kong Island, so we got on the MTR to central and got a bus to Stanley. The market was packed!! So we walked around for a while checking out the worst, fake Ralph Lauren stuff ever, apparently the famous polo horse now has two legs and what looked like horns?!. Then we went to their local man made beach, and on the way checked out the BBQ areas… basically right by the beach are about 20 man-made areas with fully kitted out BBQs and all free (you just supply food!), Soph was amazed, I mean how do you BBQ dimsum?!! After that we stopped at the Rocksalt restaurant for some food whilst the sun was setting before heading back at about 7pm. Our plan was to go home and get spuced up for a few drinks at Aqua bar - instead, we got back and snuggled up together and watched telly. God, we're getting old!
