Day 27: Kings Canyon
Day 3 at Kings Canyon saw me feeling slightly better. I haven't been ill for years, can't believe I'm ill on holidays. Always the way, as soon as you relax!!!!!!!
Anyway, we started the morning slowly. After breakfast (and a bit of a clean) we headed back to Kings Canyon to do the shorter walk to Kings Creek, which is basically a walk through part of the base of the canyon.
It was a very peaceful walk that allowed us to see huge boulders that have broken from the canyon. The last known break was in the 1930's. The walk only took about an hour so we continued a little further down the road to do the Kathleen Springs walk. This walk also only took about an hour and had the added bonus of hardly anyone being there.
The path was flat making us regret not bringing the kids bikes, live and learn!
This walk took us to a permanent water source, the biggest we have seen since arriving in the Northern Territory, and along the way we saw remnants of a cattle droving era. The area was a regular stop due to the continuous supply of water.
Upon returning to the van, we had lunch and an easy afternoon, I didn't quite need a nana nap today but I needed down time.
Whilst cooking dinner tonight, we got a visit from an uninvited guest. Just in the scrub land not far from our camp site I noticed a dingo wandering around. Must have smelled the sausages!
Got the kids out to have a look, that's another wild animal they can cross off their list.
Tomorrow we are continuing our journey to Alice Springs. From Alice we are hoping to see the many gorges the area has to offer.
