Hello all!
We have ended our hiking portion of the trip, and now are starting to build towards the drive to Grand Canyon. The good news is that we are still trying to knock off some states, so we head to Four Corners, New Mexico. That's right - four states in one stop! We left the fabulous town of Moab, with one more visit to the local bakery, coffee shop for a meal in the car heading out.
We drove out of Utah and headed to as may fun stops as we could think of. The first state border was hilarious because we stopped and took pictures for entering Colorado. Since the "entering Utah" sign was right behind us, we turned the car around, raced down the road, took pictures at that sign, then took off again for Four Corners. Most people that know me understand how much I love U-Turns so it was pretty normal day for me.
Four Corners was a $5 a head entry, but really fun. It is an Indian Reservation, and basically a big stop to stand in line to get your picture taken and leave. It's still worth it!! Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah all in one stop! Shea was the funniest where she says "Hey Dad, I'll be hanging out over here in Colorado if you need me!" Hilarious. We saw a quick Indian dance and left for our next stop.
We watched the movie Forrest Gump last night in Moab to ensure we had a full understanding of the next stop, which was Mile Marker 13 on UT 163, which is Forrest Gump Point. This is where Forrest stopped running in the movie in 1980. Of course we stopped, took pictures and ran down the middle of the road for videos. Complete foolery and a great deal of fun.
From there we headed through Arizona for a while and into this town of Kanab, Utah for our Air BNB. Great little place, 3 bedroom freshly redone with a great little Western Town. We are 1.5 hour drive from Grand Canyon for tomorrow, and ready for that trip! We are looking for a good nights sleep tonight, and into Grand Canyon it is! I'm already worried about how find words to describe Grand Canyon, but maybe they will come to me when I get out of the car. All the best to you and yours. Thanks for reading. Pictures to follow here on the site.
