Wednesday is mostly DRIVING!! We left the KOA and headed...EAST. We hit Nebraska, our final new state of the drive. We stopped at Car Henge, and quick and goofy stop of old cars sticking out of the ground and making a copy of Stone Henge. Pretty weird, but I love old cars, so great fun for me. I saw an old Vega my brother used to drive, and enjoyed an old Galaxie up on the "Ford Seasons" display.
We also hit a state park which was Chimney Rock. This was part of the Pony Express, and part of the Morman trail in the mid 1800's where wagons went all the way through to Salt Lake City, and this rock was a big landmark to the travelers. Great history and an hour out of the car.
Driving and driving, and we finally stop at North Platte, NE in a hotel! Kids thrilled to have TV and a shower where we don't need shower shoes.
Plan tomorrow, - drive to Des Moines, goto a living farm, then back in the car for the last three hours to grandma's. Yep, this could be the last blog entry, just driving across Iowa. Maybe I'll post some farm pics, that should be pretty fun. The kids said they are up for the long drive to make it to grandma's. Dinner at the Machine Shed in Des Moines is of course mandatory.
thanks for listening!! One more hit of pictures probably.
