Hey everyone
Today was surfing day!
Today we woke up to more rain so we had our breakfast expecting another day like yesterday. Fortunately though, after breakfast it had cleared, and the sun was out and the sky was blue. We decided to make the most of it so we borrowed a surfboard and boogie board from reception and headed down to the beach. After a quick lesson from Alex, Christina was soon surfing the waves (very little waves that often carried her on to shore) and having fun. However the salt water kept getting into her eyes and stinging, so she soon gave up on getting out of the water to wipe her eyes and decided she needed googles! She enjoyed watching Alex surfing and when he eventually came out he was very proud at the number of times he stood up. He was also proud that he had a cut on his leg, and so had his first war wound from travelling.
After all the surfing we were very hungry but had no food other than porridge, so we just had breakfast again (its very filling). Alex decided (and Christina very much agreed) that with her birthday coming up shopping needed to be done, so we spent the afternoon in Noosa looking around the shops, with Alex remembering everything Christina pointed out that she liked. Christina then went back to the hostel as Alex went off on the mission of buying presents. He was quite successful but was disappointed when we walked 20 minutes to a shopping centre to find all the shops (bar the bottle shop) closed. Maybe he should have drowned his sorrows...
For dinner, making the use of a rare oven, we had pizza. Sadly it spent a couple too many minutes in the oven, but we made up for it with pancakes for dessert. We bought a pancake mix and Christina was impressed with Alex's pancake-making skills (she doesn't even usually like them!). We went to bed to the sound of rain, again. Xxx
