Today we went to Newcastle!

We got up and checked out, preparing a few snacks for the journey before we left. We had booked ourselves onto the 2pm Greyhound coach to Newcastle, the first step of our long journey up the East coast to Cairns. We had quite a wait at the bus station, but finally the huge Greyhound coach pulled up. Boarding went smoothly and we made ourselves comfortable for the two and a half hour journey.

We arrived in Newcastle and a short walk later arrived at the Newcastle YHA hostel. The hostel was really nice, with a huge common room (complete with piano and so-called chandeliers in the so-called ballroom...), spacious kitchen, and a nice 4 bed dorm which we had to ourselves.

We didn't have time to do much before dinner, so we just went and sat on the small beach over the road from the hostel, watching the sunset. We then popped by a foodstore on our way back and had some carbonara for dinner, before getting an early night. Tomorrow, we would explore Newcastle, Australia's sixth largest city... Xxx
