Hey everyone
Today was the Pet Porpoise Pool day!
This was a little wildlife park next to our hostel which promised kisses from dolphins. We weren't expecting much (the place was quite small) but we arrived, paid and went straight to the dolphin pools, where we were greeted by two dolphins swimming around and playing ball. You were allowed to put your hands in the water, and could stroke them and play with them. One brought a ball over to Christina and she started playing catch with a dolphin! Alex soon joined in, which led the dolphin to make loud squeaking sounds (the dolphin must have liked him), which we caught on video!
We then watched the show, featuring both dolphins and seals doing amazing tricks. One dolphin trick involved them swimming the whole length of the pool with their bodies upright completely out the water, using only their tail flippers to move themselves along (surprisingly quickly, too). At the end of the show we were invited to stand by the side of the pool while the dolphin splashed us and we got soaked! To make up for it though he turned over so we stroke his belly.
Then was the chance to be kissed by a dolphin (a rather hard forceful kiss) and then a seal (more wet and fishy) and had our photos taken during both.
Next was feeding time where we both fed a huge seal, a sea turtle, some vicious fish, a toothless fish and then finally the little baby penguins. After our last look around at the dolphins playing in the pool, we had our lunch and headed back to the hostel. Alex had developed a headache and under Christinas strict instructions had to have a nap while she played in the pool.
After dinner we had an early night as tomorrow we needed to get up early to go the bus stop, where we would board the greyhound for our next destination... Surfers Paradise... Xxx
