The following day was a big drive to Mallacoota where we had booked, 2 nights camping this time with our own jetty and moring for the boat. Something we had looked forward to for while and in the hope to catch a big flatty. As we became closer, about 50km out we could see a big storm and were greated with trees brocken and a mess of leaves covering the main hwy, then on turning onto Mallacoota road a line of over 20 cars stopped as on 2 seperate occasions there were trees down across the road stopping traffic. Nervous we rang through to Mallacoota who informed us they had no power. Thinking we might need to abort the camping idea we drove into town to decide the rain had gone. While eating our takeaway fish and chips the rain started again, luckily not as heavy but a lovely man lent us a tarp which we put over the swags. Surviving the night dry and desperate to catch a Flathead we headed out fishing in good time. Thankfully we got a couple (not as many as we would have liked or a huge one like we had seesesame photos of) and also a couple of Taylor. A repeat of the night before as we were eating our BBQ dinner a huge storm came in so hybinating in the laundry we Bundy and dinned!! Thanks again to the borrowed tarp we had another dry night.
