Arrived in Schipol and found out my mate was also gonna be in Burma at the time, more the merrier. I boarded my plane which turned out to be a china airways flight. Was pretty old school inside but the service was good and the film selection was toppa. Watched gravity, 12 years a slave and up. When we boarded the wifey even gave me especially a coupon for the premium lane at arrival meaning I'd beat the queues. She kind of came to my seat, checked the numbers, looked confused and went away for a while. They probs dish them out to the gold status passengers and didn't think a young lad like me would have 1.8m airmiles.
Turns out the pass was no use when I landed as there wasn't even an express lane in operation. Got the sky train to a random stop off, jumped off and hopped onto a local bus to as near as koh san road as I could get and walked the rest. I walked around and crossed a guy with a shaven nut and the biggest beard I have ever seen beard, we got talking as he too had just arrived and we looked for guesthouse together. He settled for a dorm but I was adamant I could find cheaper and found another place. Took a big nap then got an awesome thai green curry.

Tried some more local bait in the form of pad thai. Bought some stuff which I forgot to bring out with me, from 7 Eleven, a convenience store which is every 100m in Thailand. Had nap. Woke up and watched Sunderland drop out the FA cup to Hull 3-0. Some performer in the bar played Oasis for me when I told him I was from England, and said my face looks like Oasis when he walked out lol. Got talking to some geezer from Reading who supports Arsenal. I told him I was going to Burma and he thought that was in Malaysia… southerners ey! We had a few beers. When I left there was some street performers doing breaking dancing in the middle of the road, spinning around like a spinning top. Bought an awesome banana pancake then hit the hay.

Got up early for visa run. Got the boat down the river and found it easily enough. Arrived and the queue was already pretty long. Got talking a Manchester guy called Paul, who was on a long holiday but was well travelled as well as a German couple. Turns out Paul had arrived this morning in BKK and was actually flying tonight to Burma, therefore he was getting a same day visa… risky!! The doors opened and everyone rushed in, it was a bit hectic but was pretty well ran as they were so fast. Afterwards we all got some street food together which was nice. Talked to another German guy at the hotel before meeting up with Jonas, my German mate who was also going to Burma. They love to travel these guys! Got some food together.
