Jaipur, the "Pink City", is as it sounds - a collection of pink buildings and palace complex that give off a soft, glowing hue. It might be even more romantic if Jaipur wasn't so big and crowded, and a bit overwhelming at times! The Amber Fort was the big highlight here, and was perhaps the busiest site with tourists that we have seen so far - wow. Lots of ducking out of the way of tour groups to try and get photos - an exercise we are becoming increasingly skilled at.
We also had an impromptu stop at the Hanuman Temple - an area that is inhabited by dozens of wild monkeys; both macaque and langur! It was a surreal experience to wander around the temple site and have monkeys jumping around and over you, watching monkeys pull each others' tails, and even the odd stray dog and monkey roughhousing. The langur monkeys are especially graceful with their long leaps, and beautiful, curling tails. Watching the babies clinging to their mother's bellies hanging upside down was a delight. More monkeys, please!
