We moved away from the loud music and beach parties down to south Goa, to hunker down at beautiful, crescent shaped Palolem Beach. We looked forward to celebrating Holi, the annual Spring festival on March 1, but either the celebrations were disappointing, or we just weren't cool enough to know where to find the good ones. It is at this time of year that Hindus celebrate the coming of Spring, and the triumph of good over evil. People throw powdered colours at each other to stain their clothing and skin, and have a merry old time. We bought oversized white shirts in town and a package of purple dye, and wandered around trying to find people to "celebrate" with. Although we managed to do a bit of colour exchange, we still emerged overwhelmingly white. Oh well, we tried.
Clare went to her first Indian yoga class! Because she is a city yogi, she dutifully showed up 15 minutes before the class was scheduled to start to reserve her space and get ready. Because this is India, no one showed up until the last minute, and they started half an hour late anyways. Indian yoga when done outside is of course the equivalent of hot yoga in a studio at home - leaves you parched and gasping for air, but has the added touch of flies that you desperately try not to swat at. But a great workout, and some useful adjustments from the instructor!
Goodbye again, beach! It is time to leave you. We are getting very lazy and lethargic.
Oh, and we have noticed a bunch of comments people left earlier on the blog on photos - we did not receive notifications for them before, so are just seeing them now. Thank you for them, and for everyone who continues to read and share their love!
