Today is my last day in Bangkok! For the foreseeable future anyway!! I decided I didn't want to waste it so I booked myself a little trip to the floating market so I could experience the same thing I've seen so many times on water in a boat! Was actually a really cool morning.. We drove to the river/lake thing and then got a speed boat to the start of it where you then got onto a smaller boat with your own chauffeur! You could walk around the market by foot but that then kind off defeated the the 'floating market' theme.. The only way I could possibly describe it would be like hook the frog just we were humans! As we sailed pass, the traders had sticks which they would latch on and pull us (literally) to their boat to try and sell us spices and fake elephant statues. I bought some bananas? Doing my bit for the Thailand economy!
When I got back to dry land I decided to see what else Bangkok had to offer apart from buckets of vodka and massages.. I took a stroll down the main road pass a really big temple. Couldn't tell you what it was called.. Ask me when I'm back and I will tell you! I carried on walking and ended up in a flower market.. Yes, exactly like china! There are so many markets in Asia it's unreal! But anyway, I bought some flowers, for the equivalent of 10p so I didn't even try to barter (even though I am quite good at it now!) and put them in my dorm room to make it look pretty!
As it was the last night I decided that I wanted to make the effort and there was a place called 'Sky Bar' that looked amazing! There was a dress code so we knew it was posh!! Was not wrong! Only myself and Katie went but I am so glad I did! I was on the 63rd floor suspended on the worlds highest open air bar and oh my god, the views of Bangkok were incredible! It was as if I'd been in a bubble and from up there you are looking down into it! I don't know what I was expecting from Thailand but it certainly wasn't views like that! After two hours we had to drag ourselves away because we couldn't just keep staring and we couldn't afford a drink!! Even if we did manage to get one for free. Yes, we accidentally forgot to pay for our drink.. We had every intention on paying for the cocktails, however if they didn't ask for money, everyone's natural response would be to slowly turn and look at the views, drink the cocktail then walk away.. No? Come on, as if you wouldn't have done the same!
So glad I went up there though.. When I got back to the hostel I made an impulsive decision that my bank account may not like but hopefully I will! I am going to detour to Cambodia before I island hop Thailand! So now three flights and three more hostels I'm ticking off another country and some more world wonders! I kinda love my life so much!
