We arrived at castle cove greeted by our Chinese hosts. Very smiley but rubbish English, he showed us to our mini apartment and left us to it. We had to call them back because the apartment was dirty, so we went off and left them to clean it.
When we came back with our food shop it was spotless and the outdoor pool on stilts overlooking sugar loaf bay was out of of this world. Very clean and refreshing!
On Saturday Night we went to the Mardi Gras a gay and lesbian parade to celebrate equality and love! We wondered why everyone was walking around with stools and milk crates until later we realised that as it was so packed you couldn't see much unless you were stood on something, although it was still a great atmosphere and a good experience to be a part of.
Sunday morning we went for a walk around castle cove area down to the Roseville marina. The views were panoramic, lots of expensive boats and rich people! The rest of the day we spent in the pool chillaxing and made pasta and quorn dish and ate it out side overlooking sugar loaf. Just as we finished tea, Ryan turned around to see a wombat walking towards us ..jumped out of his skin and it ran off.
We left for Avalon beach our next accommodation until Friday morning. We are a 2 minute walk to the beach and lots of shops and restaurants and most importantly a ten minute drive to palm beach aka summer bay HOME AND AWAY :D
Our hosts offered to drive us up there the day we arrived and luckily we bumped into the producers who told us they would be filming tomorrow all day. Lucky us!
That evening we walked along palm beach and Ryan got hit by a huge wave as he was trying to take a photo on the edge of the sea pool.. fully clothed! I didn't quite get a video in time but it was hilarious!
The next day we headed up bright and early to the set of home and away at palm beach, to see two of the cast right away filming a scene! We spent 7 hours there watching them record 4 scenes numerous times and met 3 in person with photographs! Sad we know but we loved it! We also enjoyed two lovely coffees at the boathouse, and a cream tea with whipped cream instead of clotted! Hmm haha not as nice as home!
Today we woke up our latest since travelling at 10:20! We have been exhausted and must of needed it! We got up and headed back to palm beach and hiked up 800m of steps to the famous lighthouse that appears on the intro of home and away. We missed seeing any whales which are often spotted from may migrating. But the views of palm beach/ summer were outstanding and well worth the hike.
Tonight we're having our 3rd BBQ tea in a row as we have our own private patio, hammock and dining area outside. So I'm having veggie burger, Ryans having kangaroo! with mushrooms, pepper and avocado salad. Yum!
Tomorrow we plan to head up to whale beach and explore up there. Then head back again for our last BBQ at Avalon beach before heading back to Newtown where we stayed when we first arrived for my birthday weekend. Newtown has lots of bars, restaurants and is the hippy, party place of town so perfect for my birthday.
We're planning on making a birthday cake Friday afternoon when we arrive in Newtown for my first birthday away from home! Then Luna park Friday night which we still haven't had time to do! Then Saturday on my birthday we plan to go out for breakfast and head to taronga zoo for the day and I get it for 60p as it's my birthday. Then the rest of the day is unknown for me as Ryan is surprising me and It will probably consist of fish and chips and some cocktails and celebrations in Sydney.
To also mark us moving on to Byron Bay on Monday for our next adventure.
Lots of love, missing you all always,
Ryan and meg xxxxxx
