Hi guys,
Just a quick blog. Since our last blog we went to the cinema in Blenheim. It was pretty small almost like a front room more than a cinema but it was quite nice to have an evening out. That finished about 8:30 and as the light was fading we headed off to find somewhere to stay. We found a small DOC site about half way between Blenheim and Picton which had some good coastal views.
Yesterday we left the DOC pretty late as we knew we only had 20k to go to the ferry and we didn't need to be there til 1pm. We still arrived way too early so we had a mooch around Picton - again its small but had a nice seasidey town feel. Claire got a necklace.
Then we got on the ferry - which was a bit too long at 3 hours, but I had a nap and Caire read. On the way over we noticed we had two choices in town - a backpackers or a converted car park. We tried the Backpackers first but they had no room (probably for the best the owner was a bit weird) so we went to the car park.
The attendant was very helpful and couldn't have done more for us which was a really nice change. This place was set up for the rugby last year and is due to be a building sometime later in the year so it pretty tempory but it is right on the water front so the location is brilliant.
Last night was chinese new year so we had a free fashion show and firework display to watch which was brilliant. Afterwards we headed into the bar district and had a few beers and a pizza. It made a real change to be somewhere "larger" with a night life scene. It was a bit more like being at home - not necessarily a good thing as the chavs were out in force, but you have to take the rough with the smooth.
After that we fel into our little wagon and snoozed. I've managed to find a free wifi so this is the first time I'm blogging from inside the van - huzzah.

Steve Taylor Good to hear you had a good time with a few beers and a pizza. I think the local sheep farmers go to a slightly different place , called the baah district.......
