It´s 10am in Germany and the start of our second morning.
Before I start I´d like to point out that any spelling mistakes are the computers fauly. I´m using a QWERTZ not QWERY keyboards, not sure if that´s normal for Germany but its really messing with me.
I can´t believe we´ve only been here two days we´ve done so much already!
We arrived at about 8pm on Saturday. That night they were having a celebration in the town and a lot of the roads were closed so we had to walk with our bags straight to the restaurant for dinner.
We were allowed to get changed in the wine cellar as we were a little hot and bothered.
What followed was the most amazing four hours of food I have ever experienced. Dinner consisted our about 10 courses each with a different wine and an explanation of why.
Punctuated at 10pm by a stroll out onto the weir to watch the firework display. Which claire has taken some amazing photos of with our new camera.
The waiters were brilliant a special mention goes to our French waiter who had a great understanding of Fawlty Towers.
Finally about midnight we walked back to M&M´s (Claire´s Aunt and Uncle) mansion in the middle of the city. It´s not really a mansion but I could fit my house in to their ground floor and there are 3 and a half floors. But it is in the middle of the city only two mintues walk from the funiculure.
(Wow this is already long and I´ve only done the first day)
Ok Skimming through Day two,
We went up to Heidelberg castle on the funiculure - burnt down in 1673 along with most of the old town (hence the fireworks the day before). Where they were having a pre concert day for locals - showing snippets of upcoming plays and musicals and trying to drum up interest and sell tickets. So most of what followed I didn´t understand but the views were amazing and the singing/playing was classical or British covers so that was ok. We took lots of photos and got into bits of the castle that you normally couldn´t see.
Afterwards we had lunch in the castle gardens and got on the funiculure up to fantasy castle dream land thingy. It´s right at the top of the hill and is a pre teens fun park that Claire remembers visiting twenty years ago. So we spent the afternoon acting like five year olds.
Finally we road the funiculr back and flopped down in front of the computerto upload photos. This site is painfully slow to load large images onto so we will probably only be posting the best ones from here on out.
Hope everyone is well.
Mr P
