Today we got up at 5:15am.
I'm going to stop mentioning the early starts now as we haven't stopped moving and we're up early every day. We got the boat from Isabella back to Santa Cruz. This time people were being sick over the back of the boat which was better than the first journey. We checked back into Kevs hostel and all got our laundry done- it was nice to have clean clothes! Eddy was a bit unlucky as her jumpers were turned into crop tops. The Canadian girl Genie we shared a room with still insisted they looked 'cute'. We're not so sure.
We decided that we would spend the rest of the day at Tortuga Bay. We first had to walk along a trail for 45 minutes and then arrived at a long beach which had a very strong current and according to a guide passing by, caused whoever swam in the sea to go 'kaput'. On the other side of this beach was a really beautiful cove which was safe to swim in. We hired out kayaks (Team Hannah in one and Kat and Nay in the other) so that we could go shark and ray spotting. We spent an hour paddling out to sea and only saw a turtle but when we got back to the beach to give the kayaks in we saw 4 or 5 1.5m wide stingrays in the shallows and about 6 white tip sharks resting in the shallows at the side of the beach. Typical, but we weren't complaining because it was really fun in the kayaks. Team Hannah had better coordination than Kat and Nay so were cruising along. Afterwards we stayed on the beach for a couple of hours having waterfights and burying Kat in the sand.
In the evening we met a guy staying at the hostel called Marcus. Before he had realised we were english he said he was from 'northern England'. He actually lived in Glasgow so we found it really funny he had described it like that. We invited him along for dinner. The girls all dressed up a bit as it was our last night in the Galapagos and we had a slightly more expensive than usual but really delicious meal at Hernan Cafe. Nay had lobster, I had mixed seafood, Eddy had prawns and Kat had stuffed chicken. Whilst walking on towards the infamous 'Bongo bar' for cocktails a local pointed at Marcus and called him Harry Potter. This lead to us all deciding which character we would be. Nay said that I would be 'moaning Myrtle' which has no reflection on my personality might I add, but it was rather funny.
After cocktails we went downstairs to a small club and had a dance before heading home at 1am, by far our latest evening out on our trip.
