3:15am....something wrong with being up at this time, even if it is to get on a plane to go to Mexico.
We headed to the airport bright and early for our 6am flight to Cancun. It was an uneventful flight since there was no need to go through US Customs. We waved at Krista inside the US Customs fishbowl at the airport, unfortunately we weren't flying together and she had to stop in Houston. Our flight was a good one, we arrived on time and made our way to the hotel....yipee, we are IN!!
We are staying at the Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach Resort. It is about 30 km south of Playa Del Carmen so it was a bit of a drive from the airport. Well worth the wait though, we were impressed when we arrived. Golf carts took all the guests to their rooms and the luggage was delivered later by the bellboys. The room is AWESOME! We have a balcony, jacuzzi tub, stocked bar fridge and a HUGE living area. After making reservations at the al la carte restaurants for the week we headed to the beach to find the snack bar and have a few daquiri's while we waited for Krista to arrive.
Krista showed up on the doorstep at about 7pm and since we were all starving we headed off to the buffet for supper....delicious! We settled into the lounge for a few more drinks while we attempted to figure out our plans for the week.....resort relaxing tomorrow, Xel-Ha on Monday, relaxing on Tuesday and then an Eco-Adventure on Tuesday (Tulum Ruins, Ziplining, Rappeling, and a Cenote Swim). Going to be a blast!
Well, it is late so off I go, more adventures tomrorow. There will be pictures posted on Flickr, check them out: www.flickr.com/photos/tonto11
