Lake Argyle - WA/NT Border - Timber Creek (lunch & fuel) - Victoria River Roadhouse
We drove across the dam wall (the lake is on one side and the Ord river on the other) and to the lookouts where you only get to see 5% of its entirety. We had our last swim in the infinity pool and it was even better as we were the only ones in the pool for the majority of the time.
We left around 9:45am (WA time) and crossed the WA/NT border (which was very uneventful and I didn't even realise we had crossed over). We lost 1 ½ hours (time difference) and our day was heating up to a hot 38 degrees.
We stopped at Timber Creek for a quick lunch (in the caravan trying to stay cool) and then refuelled. Only we went to the wrong petrol station, we didn't realise they shared the same driveway so we filled up at the expensive one while mum and dad filled up at the cheap one. Even though they told us to go to the 2nd petrol station we thought we were at it (it was a 13 cent per litre difference, talk about being ripped off!!).
We arrived at Victoria River Roadhouse around 4:00pm (NT time). We lazed around our caravans and the kids had a cool off in a bucket of cold water.
Rog & I then walked down to the old river crossing. It was a pretty spot and we saw kangaroos eating and drinking by the water and we saw a flock of glossy black cockatoos (red underneath wings).
We had kangaroo for dinner (which the kids think Rog got from the side of the road!) and then Dad, Rog and I went for a walk back down to the old river crossing to see if we could spot any crocodiles. Luckily dad has a really good torch and we were able to spot a couple of eyes in the water and some fish but the high light was when we were walking down and there were lots of cane toads (the first time the three of us have seen one).
