Day 1 Sydney – Gilgandra (514km – 7 hrs 40 mins)

Today was a driving day and a day to get used to towing the caravan! We got on the road at 7:50am and the kids had a great day playing spot-o and looking for wildlife (sheep, cattle, horses, emu’s, eagle). It was a windy day and the caravan got a bit wobbly a few times but Rog had it all under control. We also had to get used to the amount of fuel you go through very quickly.

The highlight for Rog & I was seeing a tree on fire from inside the trunk. It would have been great to stop to take a photo but we had to just keep driving.

We had a quick toilet/morning tea stop, a fuel top-up, lunch at a rest area, filled the car at Dunedoo and arrived in Gilgandra (Hazeldean) at 3:30pm.

We had a very warm welcome from Don & June Weston, set-up the caravan and then had a yummy lasagne for dinner.
