So we did not make it to Tucson. In fact we did not turn a wheel today. The weather was supposed to be really nice and the area we are in is beautiful so we decided to just relax here for a day. I think we checked into a senior's only RV Park but no one seems to mind! We cleaned up around the house so to speak, got ourselves showered up and feeling good and then went out to play in the dirt. We headed out on the trails in search of some Petro glyphs. There are some really old ones around where we are staying. In the pictures from today's adventure, the glyphs are about 500-600 years old we were told. It is really amazing to think that we are out in the middle of nowhere, with hardly anyone around and there have been people living out here in the middle of nowhere without hardly anyone around for centuries. Mira had a blast and was taking small rocks and trying to carve her own Glyphs everywhere we went. Anytime she saw a big rock she would scratch at it with her smaller rock and say "horsey." (She saw a horse carved into one of the stones.) After our Hike we headed back to the ranch and headed over to visit Josh and Gerri, a couple that we had met earlier in the day when they took Brigette and Mira for a ride around the park on their Polaris Razor. Mira absolutely loved it. Josh and Gerri feed the rabbits and birds out in their back yard and they suggested that Mira come over and see them all. When Mira saw the first Rabbit her eyes grew wide, she stretched out her arms and said "tickle tickle tickle." I had to explain to her that rabbits were not ticklish. It was neat to see the wildlife. They had quayle, house finches, some other birds, small bunnies and big jack rabbits all within 15 or so feet of where we were sitting. All of those well fed small animals would explain the sound of healthy coyotes we hear at night! Gerri and Josh also collect rocks and tumble them. They also make their own jewelry and have made some really nice stuff. They let Mira pick out a polished rock and she dropped it on the floor. I bent down to pick it up and noticing it was right beside the air register thought to myself, "it's a good thing it did not fall down in there." You can probably see what is coming….yep I dropped the stone in the register as I was standing back up… They were kind enough to not make fun of me and let Mira pick out a new stone. As we walked home from Josh and Gerri's we saw a roadrunner. Apparently they only eat other animals; I am going to Google that right now and make sure it is true. Yep, it is true. Crazy, the roadrunner is a carnivore…
After all of the hiking, rock-hounding, petro-glyphing and animal watching we headed back to base and cooked up some chicken on the barBQ. It was nice to sit and stare out at the mountains while tending to the Que. After dinner we headed down to the rec centre and Brigette and I played a game of pool. Mira thought that pool was hilarious and she would run around the table telling us which ball to hit. Too funny. After a game of pool we headed home. Mira went to bed, Brigette and I finally saw the first two episodes of lost. Brigette fell asleep on the sofa and I am typing this blog or rather, was typing this blog as now I am done.
