Noosa was the next stop on my travels it is a place where people from new south wales go for holiday in the sun. It was a really lovely small town with beautiful beaches and friendly people. I stayed at the YHA, which was a converted house on a hill, it was the closest hostel to the beach which came in handy as they didn't have a pool. I spent the first day on the beach and got burnt legs I know more suncream in future. I will as it was really sore. I had a relaxing evening ready for my trip to australia zoo the next day. Well steve irwin's zoo (australia zoo) was amazing is huge and so many animals to see. I watched all the shows that were on throughout the day, I especially enjoyed the croc show. Feeding time was really good and they also gave lots of information about animals conservation in the wild. I definitely recommend the zoo to anyone going to brisbane or noosa, as I feel it a must see, especially for kids.
After noosa I went to rainbow beach about an hour up the coast. Here I went to fraser island for 3 days, it is the largest sand island in the world and I htink it has national park status. We were put into our groups the first evening and had to go and do the important stuff like buy alcohol and sunscreen. The first moring we spent lots of time getting to grips with the car and doing lots of checks of the vehicle and food supplies. Then off to te ferry to get to the island, it only took about 10 minutes to get to the island which was great and we got to see some dolphins on the way. Driving on the sand is hard work and luckly there were enough blokes in my group who wanted to drive. I did have a go at driving but I managed to get the car stuck in the sand and one of the blokes had to rescue us. We visited lake mackenise on the first day which was beautiful the water was soo clear and white sand beaches the picture don't do it justice. We all went for a swim and the sun bathing for a couple of hours, had lunch then back on the beach to find somewhere to camp for the night (yes I said camping). We stayed the night on an aborginial camp which meant we could have a camp fire and get drunk and not worry about others camping. The local also put on a show of singing and dancing then join us drinking the night away. First night camping of my god, we had people trying to get into our tent and it was really noisy as people were drinking into the early hours and it was really cold during the night and not comfortable at all. Never mind the experience itself was worth the uncomfortable sleeping conditons.
The second day we drove to indian head the most northern point we were allowd to drive to. Walked up indian head and saw the views of the ocean adn beaches. After we went to champayne pools, which was pools of rocks which had huge waves coming over them, the blokes had a ball playing in the pools and climbing the rocks I just did some sun bathing and was the camera lady!! We headed to eli creek on the way to the camp where we were staying the second night. The creek was nice but very busy as most groups stopped here as it's a main attraction of the island. We got to the camp site in time for sunset and in enough time for dinner before we lots the light. We camped on the beach this night and most of the other groups we had met on the way also camped there. It was one bit party and lots of drunken people. I decided to have an early night due to lack of sleep which didn;t help as it was again another really cold night and lots of nosie.
The last day we visited lake wabby before we had to get the ferry back to the main land at midday. The lake was situated in between forest and sand dunes, it was really lovely and again the boys enjoyed running down the dunes into the water (check out videos) and yes on of the blokes did land on his head, no lasting damage done (i think)! After we had got the ferry back we had to clean to vehicle and wash all the dishes before returning the car, luckly this didn't take long and we all went back to the hostel for a well deserved shower as we hadn't had one for 2 days. We all went out for dinner int he evening as we were all travelling on the next day, it was a nice finish to the trip.
