Well surf camp was great fun!! After a 7 hours coach journey from sydney to surf camp in arrawarra, we spent the afternoon drinking in front of the camp fire which was really nice. The first surf lession was the morning after and i'm so glad I didn't drink too much. The lession was really good the instructors shows us the idiots way of standing on a surf board but this idiot could get it and I could only make it to my knees. It is a lot harder than it lots when pro's are surfing. Well after the lession I decided to stay another 4 night as I really enjoyed surfing and I was determined to stand by the time I left surf camp. The days went by and more people came and went and could stand no problems and I still wasn't getting it. Then one afternoon I went into the surf by myself and managed to stand without any problem but I did wipe out quite a few times before standing. I was really proud of myself and i was hooked. The instrutor were really nice and tried everything to help me stand up, I think I just had to get over the fear of the ocean and thats was it, I also think taht being able to wear my contaact lenses helped so I could see the others around me which also helped with the fear. There was one afternoon we went out for a lession and there were two young boys out to sea that needed help so our instructors went to help and when they came back in they had had a shark (YES SHARK) following them out at sea, so the lession was cancelled, thank god!! The weather was great every morning up until departure day it was raining. never mind I'm british I like the rain but not in OZ!!
By the way don't be afraid of the surfing pictures it's just me in a wet suit not a beach whale or a large seal. There are a lot of really bad pictures but I don't care I had loadsa fun and great memories :)
speak soon
