Well bangkok airport is a bit of a culture shock already, despite being HUGE, not everyone speaks English and I had no baht to buy anything I found myself sitting at my Gate for a few hours waiting for my flight. It gives me time to look through my pictures and organise what I'm doing, find some WIFI and hang.
I got to sit with a foreign exchange girl from Germany named Helga on the way to bangkok and she was lovely! I was really glad cause I hate getting up and down and bugging the person beside me, but she was really cool! It takes care of one of my worries!
On the Rome leg of the flight I had NOONE next to me - talk about score! And that's probably because the flight left at 12:01am in the morning - but I'd do it again :) Another little tip I've learnt!
The flight was 13 hours long and the first maybe 5-7 I slept right through
Once again I was amazed because they were handing our meals at 1am on the flight and I was like really confused ha!
The flight left at 3am AUS time and I must have been tired by this stage getting to almost 24hours awake as I slept through take off and pretty much all the turbulence. I woke up and watched the flight info 6 hours in and realised that this trip is REALLY BIG!! I watched one movie but found myself falling asleep again and with about 3.5 hours to go, got up and grabbed my laptop, some music and decided to just try and relax.
The whole flight I was DREADING BREAKFAST! I just wanted to get on the ground and get my eating patterns right with some Italian coffee and a muffin or something haha seeing as though I only ate sugary LOLLIESSS, ANZAC bickeys and a bread roll in the past day. I can't say I'm not impressed with Thai Airways and their service and food, it's just my body not enjoying all the changes! Haha - I better get used to it!
Something that was amazing however was almost the whole trips there were shapes under the plane of beautiful white mountains (don't know if its snow or not) as we went over Middle East, India, Nepal and Russia! It was totally beautiful! I wished it ha been day so I could have shot some photos because its just amazing. What was even cooler is the little bundles of light in the crevices of these mountains... And then you think your over water but see these towns and you realize your just over a flat part of the mountains.
Made sure my phone is charged for the massive day I've got ahead again, and landed in Rome safety, I didn't really know what to expect as i landed, some people are rugged up some aren't because the temperature is meant to be about 14C but could be colder or warmer.
I had to catch a sky train to go from arrivals to baggage claim then I lined up in this HUGE line until I realised that I have an EU passport! The guy looked at my ID and sent me right through.. Man SO easy being a European citizen. I then got my luggage headed out and got a transfer to my hotel at 730am where they had my room ready 5 hours early! Woo but it's a special religious public holiday today so I am gonna have a nap, and then head out for the day and hopefully find something to do.. Get my brave on!
