It still hasn't hit me yet that yesterday I was in America and now I'm in England. It feels like my traveling has officially began! Having been to London before when I was ten, I kind of already knew what it was like. However it has still been good to see the sights again, I suppose this time in a new light. My first day when I arrived I went to Oxford St and Piccadilly Circus, then walked back through Hyde park and Kensington Gardens. I also saw Kensington Palace, the last place where Diana lived before she died. I was quite surprised by the weather in London. The sun was out and I was in shorts and a tee shirt as it was actually hot!
The next day we headed to the Portobello markets in Notting Hill and had a wander around there. We then caught the 'tube' (not to be called subway) into central London and saw Leicester square, Trafalgar square, Big Ben, Westminster Abby, The House of Parliament, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and The London Eye. We also walked along their version of Southbank. In a way it really reminded me of Melbourne. That night we hit the town. Ended up going to a club where Leona Lewis performed. I got to hear "bleeding love" so I was happy :)
On Sunday the weather turned bad. I would not like to be in London for winter because it's pretty cold at the moment and they've just come out of summer! Even though it was raining we went to to Camden markets and had a look there. It was kind of like Queen Vic markets. That afternoon seeing we couldn't do much else, I went and got my hair died. It's finally light brown!! That night we went and saw "Friends with Benefits." It was a very good movie! It's weird though because it's not even out in England yet and in USA, it had already been out and now stopped.
Once again it was another cold and windy day. We went and walked along the other side of Southbank and saw the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the HMS Bellfast, a world war two ship. We also went to Buckingham Palace. The Queen isn't staying there at the moment though. Later in the afternoon we then went to Greenwich and the Royal Observatory which is where the grand meridian is. Aka: 0 latitude and 0 longitude.
My last day I took a walking tour of the city which went to all the major sites, however this time I was given information on them so it was good :)
Tomorrow I start my top-deck tour! Quite excited!
