We went to Vienna for a long weekend in December, it's a wonderful time of year to visit as the Christmas spirit is in full swing with xmas market stalls and mulled wine on every corner. It snowed while we were there and added to the magical atmosphere. We visited the winter riding school and were very impressed by the performance of both the Lipizzaner horses and riders. When in Vienna ensure that you visit one of the many coffee houses which has been an essential part of Viennese life for centuries, we visited Cafe Central and and had delicious coffee and cake one afternoon. We took in the many sights and also visited Belvedere Palace and got our cultural fix by visiting the modern Art museum, something we try and incorporate in every new city we visit.
