Oslo…metJuliane at the main train station, put my bags away in the lockers and off we went exploring the city. Well more like Juliane being my tour guide and taking me to all the places "I should see".
So the first stop was the new Opera House. It was only just built in April last year. A very nice design however the white building is very bright when the sun is shining beautifully like it did. We of course did handstands at the top of it and enjoyed the view of the water.
We then walked downtown to see the Parliament house which had an interesting brick design. Kinda didn't really fit in with the rest of the city, but nevertheless it was still a nice building. Our stomachs were grumbling for lunch so we decided to get something by the harbour so we walked to the harbour then didn't find anything we liked so back to the city we went to get a calzone from a 7-11 imitation store and walked to the park by the Royal Palace to eat our lunch. As it was such a beautiful day we stayed there for a bit just chatting and catching up, it was really nice. Good to have some sunny weather again, a change from Bergen's weather.
So after laying in the sun we went up to the Royal Palace and I wanted to tease the guard but had to behave myself so just did handstands on the grounds too (of course Juliane joined in on the fun). Oh and this whole Norwegian trip I forgot to take Piggy with me so he hasn't experience anything at all! I have now out him in my camera bag so he won't miss out on the rest of the European trip.
We then took a stroll to Vigeland Sculpture Park (Vigelandsparken). It's a beautiful park with many sculptures by the artist Gustav Vigeland. There is a famous sculpture of a little grumpy kid. Not too sure of the reason why this particular one became famous but it is (or at least most well known worldwide). Anyways the sculptures are amazing, so beautiful. Research it on the net to read more about it. It's pretty amazing.
Next stop was the National Theatre. Didn't go in but it was lovely from the outside =p it was dinner time after all this walking and talking so we stopped by Peppes Pizza for a Thai Chicken Pizza. It was very tasty and definitely filled us up. But we had to sprint to the train station straight after (yes on a very full belly) to catch our train to Ås. It's about half an hour away and it's where Juliane lives and studies. So all in all it was a lovely day in Oslo.
The rest of the time was spent in Ås. Juliane showed me around her campus and the town here. I also saw where she will be coaching and went wheel training with her too. We had a movie night with hot chocolate, marshmallows and s'mores. Was so good and we watched Mr and Mrs Smith. Oh we went for a few walks around the countryside here as the weather was so nice and Juliane needed her study breaks. She has been studying hard to get ready for her exam next week. And while she's been studying I've been catching up on my photos and blogs so now finally I'm actually all up to date. Have also been organising my travels and finalising things, so I'm a little bit more organised now.
Tomorrow morning I'm off to Eskilstuna in Sweden. An almost 7 hour bus trip from Oslo… lovely… and just out of Stockholm. I'll meet Max there for the Nordic Fringe Festival. Looking forward to seeing a lot of shows.
Anyways it's time to sign off. Until next time, take care and get ready for the next update!
