Sleep in yesterday morning until 630am, breakfast and to boat to head back to Puerto Maldonado. Spent the day hanging out in Puerto Maldonado and catch overnight bus back to Cusco. So do not recommend the bus between Cusco and Puerto Maldonado, as the road is not good. The original road was notoriously bad so they built a new one a couple of years ago. Another early start, we walked from lodge to the canopy tower which is 32 metres tall so we were same level as tree tops, spent an hour up there watching macaws fly across. Early start, up the river and a trek through the rainforest. We all had to wear gumboots and quickly found out why as we waded through water and sticky mud. If I stopped in the mud it would almost pull my boot off when I went to move again, is basically clay. Few close calls slipping and sliding. Did an overnight bus trip from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado on the 14th March, bus was okay but at about 330am we came to a stop and sat there for just over 2 hours due to some sort of road block. Instead of arriving at 730am we finally got there at 1030am. Left 9 degrees in Cusco to 32 degrees in Puerto Maldonado.
