Hola from Cancun!
Well, well, where shall I start?!
Had the most stressful night last night packing. Nothing seemed to fit in my backpack. It took me until 2.30am to finally fit everything in!! That meant having to dramatically reduce the number of shoes I was taking :( I wasn't very happy about that. I also had to take out so many luxury items I usually use at home like body creams etc. They all didn't fit :( Will have to live on the small supply I have! I'll survive... Somehow! :p
Only had 3 hours sleep before it was time to get up and get to the airport! I got a bit emotional before leaving home. Think the nerves took over.
The flight felt like forever! I've never been on a long haul flight during the day as it's always been overnight so I get to sleep most of the way. Had to occupy myself with films and there were only 4 that had subtitles! 3 that I wouldn't normally watch but given the limited selection I had no choice but to otherwise I'd be bored stiff!
I've never been a fan of plane food, but had the nicest curry for plane food standards. And out of this world chocolate pudding! Having given up chocolate for Lent I first thought "damn I can't eat it" but then realised I could - the best feeling :D
Anyway... Finally landed... The queue through immigration and passport control was fairly short. "Oh good, it'll be quick" I thought... Nope, how wrong was I!! This man who was dealing with my passport was impossible to understand so of course there was this HUGE communication breakdown when he was asking me questions. So he decided I was 'suspicious' and sent me to the immigration office and told me to wait in this room which was full of suspicious looking men. I had no clue what was happening, I was so frustrated and the worst thing was I really needed the loo!! After about an hour everyone had gone after having been approved and I was the last person left... Nobody was around passport control either, it was like a ghost town... Finally I got seen to and got someone who was a lot easier to understand and got approved immediately! All that fuss for nothing! Was starting to think that all this wasn't meant to be!
Anyway checked into my hotel ok, free wifi and a huge double bed all to myself, lovely! Making the most of it as I know it won't last!!
Went to this Mexican diner and the food was so nice and cheap!! Compared to the UK, I could get used to this :D a very friendly place, full of Mexicans so must be good. In fact I was the only non Mexican by the looks of it. They had a TV so something to entertain myself with whilst eating. There was a very raunchy sex scene on TV at one point and the staff were giggling away before changing over to Jurassic Park, an old classic! Can never get bored of it :)
Got an action packed day tomorrow, so should be fun! Here's hoping tomorrow will be a lot smoother than today :p
Buenas noches xxxx
