Tamara's Travels
Yee ha!!
I had an amazing day when we travelled inland into the cattle farming country of Queensland. We stayed in Rockhampton, which is known as the centre for cattlemarkets. From here we went further inland a few hours to a family run cattle station. The land was vast, with yellowy grass everywhere and lots of red soil!
We went on a big trail ride, jumping logs, barrel racing around trees and rounding up the other horses to move them into different paddocks. I was put on a horse called Rebel (a really sweet dun gelding) - I was slightly concerned about the name, but the cowgirl assured me as long as i didnt put my legs on him I would be fine!!.... and I was! The ride was stunning - we rode amongst wild kangaroo's - and got up really close to them on the horses.
Also rode a motorbike around the land in the afternoon, which was great fun!
Left at sunset, just before the milking of the cows, travelled back to Rockhampton and then got a night bus up to Airlie Beach. It is from here we are going sailing in the Whitsunday Islands for a few days - leaving tomorrow morning :)
Til next time.... T xx
