Tamara's Travels
Hey all!
So yesterday the thrills came from 15,000 ft, today they were just from 2000, but it was my legs, which were the engines getting me up this time!
Fleur and I did the notorious Tongariro Crossing today - an 8 hour hike starting at 5am, which scales New Zealand's most active volcano, traces along the craters edge, has very very very steep climbs (aka the devils staircase!) as well as stunning Mars like craters, beautiful crater lakes and AMAZING views!
We went over the most amazing and diverse terrain, crossed waterfalls and nearly got blown over by strong winds! The climb, and the decent was incredible! One of the most amazing things I have ever done! Again!
Bought back memories of our walking holidays in Switzerland, mum and dad, and of Yeosemite National Pak too. Although, I have to say, this really was on a whole different level of difficulty!
We climbed Mount Doom, from Lord of the Rings, and truly did feel just like Frodo - the terrain was IDENTICAL to his hikes in the movies!
Anyway, I'm afraid this may not have been a particularly coherent postcard as I am literally on my knee's with exhaustion, so off to bed (its 8.10pm!!)
Lots of love from your adventure girl. ps you will not believe the photographs when you see them - its AWESOME!
