Tamara's Travels
Today is Saturday 16th April, 2005..... the day I jumped out of a plane at 15,000 ft... as you do!
The weather was perfect - blue skies but with some patchy cloud to jump through and make the whole experience even more AWESOME!
I went up in the plane with 4 other people to skydive, some doing 12,000 ft, but big brave others, like me maxing it at 15,000 ft - the highest jump you can possibly do!
The plane ride up was incredible, gorgeous views, and most of all I could not get over how high up we were - it felt just like being in a normal jet!
So, then they opened the door and plop, one girl went, then we went up higher and whoosh, another guy disappeared out, and then .... oh no.... it was my turn!!! I had to sit dangling out of the plane while my tandem skydiver was sat on the edge of the doorway. Then suddenly..... I was falling at over 200km/hour for over 1 minute of freefall!!! It was the biggest and best adreneline rush of my life - yes it beat being stalked by those elephants in Africa, flying under the safety net on a ski-slope, abseiling into a cave - everything! I was BUZZING...
.... until the parachute opened!! I didnt realise that at this moment it actually feels like you are falling away from the instructor guy for a moment!! But then I realised I was still attatched and it was B-eautiful, stunning, breathtaking, beautiful, incredible, just totally wow!
I did the skydive over Lake Taopo, so this meant I got to fly over lake, island, mainland and mountain all at once - what a lucky girl!!
I am still buzzing, and cant stop feeling the freefall excitement - LOVED IT!! What's next!
Anyway, thought you would all like to know that little T has been getting her kicks in true Kiwi style!!
Lots of love from a pumped adreneline junkie Txx
