At 10am we drove to Uncle David's and they took us out to McLaren Vale for the day! What a lovely day it was!
We stopped at the info centre with the plan to do a cheese tour but they only offered it for a minimum of 2 people and owns the only one of the four of us who could eat cheese! So we decided against it! :(
Tapestry was the first winery we went to. It had lovely views over the valley and the lady there was very nice and knowledgeable about the wine and history of the vale. The tastings there were good and I enjoyed my first sparkling Merlot!
We then went to Lloyd Brothers, where we tried a tasting platter of Olives which was lovely. I particularly liked the garlic olives!
We then went to the D'Arenburg winery where i tried a delicious $99 bottle of wine and Garth bought a $15 bottle of 'The Dry Dam Riesling' which was very enjoyable!
Coriole was next. They had a very limited amount of tasting wines available which weren't great but the location and restaurant were stunning! (see photo)
our final winery of the day was Chapel Hill which was set in an old chapel with stained glass from Scotland. The lady there was chatty and gave us all of their wines to try - even the expensive ones! I was quite relaxed by then!
We enjoyed a lovely lunch at a cheese cafe followed by a visit to Port Noarlunga where we took a walk along the beach where there were storage cave cut our of the cliff and an old ship wreck. I found this particularly beautiful and peaceful. We are very blessed to be doing this round the world trip.
We crashed on the journey back and declined David's kind offer of tea - but what a superb day!
