We we're picked up by our driver guy, as promised and we drove off to Long Bay.
When arriving we noticed that it was pretty crowded with beachside restaurants and bars, 'cause there were coupla bigger resorts at this bay. Not so much waves here, though, so suited better for me too to snorkel, who still am a bit of afraid of the water, especially if there's big waves.
So we got outselves coupla beach chairs and got our snorkel gear in and off to the water. There were quite a few other people snorkeling too, so it wasn't so much fun as it was in Bali or in Koh Tao. And - despite of the fact that we'd been advertised by a lot of people that this should be the islands' best place for snorkeling from the shore, there wasn't absolutely nothing to see underwater! Only coupla little, colourless fish, and that's it. Disappointment! No live coral reefs, no turtles, no nothing. Just water mixed with sand, so the visibility was pretty poor as well. And sea grass, lots of it, instead of reefs. :( Niina saw a sea star further away, but that was all. I didn't, because it was so much off the shore that I still didn't have the guts to go so far..
Well, at least the snorkeling gears we bought from back home we're really good - the mask didn't leak a tiny bit and the snorkel didn't get _any water into it whatsoever, even though swept over by waves! Really worth the money, especially to one like me, who's a bit of a panicker very easily.. ;)
But since there really wasn't anything to see, we chose to get beers and sit a bit. Afterwards we went for a dinner to a restaurant called "Mama Pasta". Had a good, fresh made pasta with meatballs and a lobster pasta, really huge portions(!). Good value for money, though the lobster pasta was a bit overpriced. Nice views, too.
Then our driver came to pick us up and we drove to the islands' biggest supermarket, the Epicurean. Huge market, yes, but not so much to choose from as you'd expect. Bought our fridge full, and drove off to home.
Now we had again all we needed, frigde full of stuff. And Carib beer, naturally. So we were ready for the nezt day to rise at Antigua. :)
