Hey all! Sorry it's been a while, we've been soooo busy trying to find jobs and an apartment...it's all been a bit crazy! Well lets continue on from Cairns...
Cairns was amazing, we stayed in a really cool hostel Greenhouse backpackers, which my bro recommended, cheers Mark! The weather was sooo hot and humid up there, still definitely shorts and t shirt weather! We also ate out every night at the Woolshed (although we often referred to it as the 'Woolpack'!) We never got this name right, calling in the watershed, woolshack..... hehheeeheee blonde!! great place mind you!! you could enjoy a heffer of a meal like a nice tasty steak, drink and dessert for only a fiver!!!! Backpacker heaven!!!
Whislt in Cairns we made a trip up to Cape Tribulation, which was cool, sleeping in the rainforest...don't worry we were in huts :) Also snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef was immense, we reckon we'll do our diving course in Fiji...the fish were awesome! Although the sea was slightly choppy! All in all we spent about a week in Cairns lapsing up the last of the sun we would be seeing in a while :) we fell asleep on these net type hammocks on the boat and got sunburnt bums!! blissful way to spend an afternoon tho.....
Sooo we moved on and caught a flight down to Melbourne...which was a hell of a lot chillier...even though we were warned i even had to purchase a coat!!!! it was cold but noe england cold!! Melbourne has sooo much character though, the first day we hopped on the free tourist bus and took a tour of the city. During the weekend we also went to the MCG to watch a game of what ozzies call soccer, not quite football, but almost! We were supporting Melbourne (or so we thought...us being blonde got missed up with the players :)) but they lost unfortunately to Carlton!
During our time in Melbourne we obviously had to go to Neighbours night...Soph was ecstatic...lliterally, she was almost blown away by Doctor Carl Kennedy! We also had the pleasure of meeting Connor, Ginelle and Malcolm Kennedy (looking rather hot by the way!) Turned into a bit of a drunken one though, to be honest the evening did start at 6pm, so you can't really blame us :) And we were singing along to Carl Kennedys band singing the killers! Also celebrated my birthday in style...or not, went on a pub crawl with our hostel, where you get a free drink in each place...put it like this...i lasted until 11.30pm, puked once before i went to bed and twice when i woke up...i learnt the valuble lesson that she should never mix vodka with beer with cowboys shots...EVER! Soph was just as or nearly as bad, she could'nt even make it up to her top bunk, so just randomly decided to crash in mine. I got a bit of a surprise when i woke up...i can describe her in one word...bed hogger!!! haha
We decided to spend an eve in St Kilda, very pretty part of Melbourne just on the outskirts, it had some lovely boutiques and shops and we were even mocked for still wearing our thongs (for you Brits aka flip flops!) by some ozzies!!! The bloody cheek! :P
Whilst also in melbourne we hit the road and did a tour of the great ocean road.... seeing the amazing bays... and the 12 apostles.... was spectacular... photos dont do it justice really!! we went on this tour with our good mate James (who did most of the driving) and his mate Ben, lovely guy - he looks like jamie theakson and richard bacon's lovechild! we had a fantastic road trip...... and enjoyed sitting back leeting the boys do the navigation!! navigation is not our strong point!! we also saw the lighthouse from round the twist..... have you ever felt like this..... strange things happen when your going round the twist!!...
However, as nice as Melbourne was.... and the shopping was awesome!! backpacks are bulging!! Sydney was calling us...so we decided to grab the next overnight Greyhound bus and head back up! It was only a couple hours later after we booked that we discovered that we could have flown for only 8 bucks more and would have been in Sydney within an hour, instead of losing a nights sleep travelling on a coach for 12 hours! Typical!
So here we are back in Sydney, as i already said these last few weeks have been manic! The first day we actually spent sleeping, after our gruelling bus journey, arriving early in the morning. After that we've been looking for jobs, getting to know the city of Sydney better and hooking up with my cousin Mirijana who i hav'nt seen since i was oooo around 8 i reckon! Was cool to catch up and she's going to show us the more in depth sights! Sooo Soph and i are currently slaving away as receptionists for posh accountant firms...but the job is easy and there are the perks...such as writing our blog at work!!!
The Pa's run around the directors like headless chicken, quite funny really!! not so bad blagging ur way through reception work!
Plus the dosh is'nt half bad...and we've just landed ourselves with a swish pad...so no more sleeping with 20 million other people in the same room !!!! woooo! Oh and did i mention that our apartment has it's own gym, swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi?! Sorry to rub it in guys :)
been doing more 'normal' things like going to the movies, watching dvd's in r pj's and enjoying have our own place and control of the remote control! went to a fab restaurant- govida's... its an all u can eat (love those 4 words!) indian buffett... and then when u cant move anymore from literally stuffing yourself with food u get to go the movie room and chill out on the sofa/bed type things 2 watch a film.... so relaxing.... i was nearly asleep1
Well, this comes to an end to our travels so far of Oz...we won't dull you with the boring work stuff...for a while anyway, but will defo post another blog soon with what the city of Sydney brings for us!
Hope you're all doing good! Drop us an email, always good to hear from ya! Take care all!
