Ive made it to Bangkok, after 13 hours on an overnight train, which i must say was more comfortable than expected!! We checked into the hotel then headed out to do a trip down the river on a long boat. What an experience and also a good way to see how people live as we left the river and went down the canel passing by local homes. There were locals in boats selling things like fish ect to other locals and kids swimming, not that you'd catch me in the water it was very polluted im sure!! The homes if you can call them that (more like sheds) are some of the oldest in Bangkok as it is were peolpe first settled. Once we finished our river cruise we head to Wat Pho - the temple of the reclining Budha. After a short tour as it was very hot and we were all tried we headed back to the hotel. I spent the afternoon catching up on some sleep and exploring the markets!! If you asked me to describe Bangkok it would be simple - Markets, food stalls, crazy tuktuk drivers and lots of traffic!!! In the evening we all meet up for our final group meal as this is where the tour ends. We went to a lovely resturant and eat some great western food which i had been craving - eating rice and noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner gets abit much!!!! After we had a few farewell drinks and went our seperate ways.
The next day i spent with Rosina who had been my room mate on the trip as she was also doing another trip that did not start till the next day. We headed off to check out Chutachuck market which is the weekend market in Bangkok and is massive. I brought myself some fishermen trousers which look real funny on but are so comfy!! After we were all shopped out we headed to the Great Palace but got there just as it was closing!! So went and checked out another temple which was really cool as the Monks were there Chanting. That evening i went out for some dinner with Groud who had been our tour leader and who i had become good friends with. The next day was the begining of my next tour however it was a free day and didin't meet the group till 6pm. I spent the day just chilling as was all templed and marketed out!!!
So at 6pm i meet the new group of people i would be spending the next 29 days with!! There are only 8 of us which is a perfect size group and everyone seem nice and the tour leader seem switched on so hopefully no problems. We went out for a group dinner that evening then the next day we had the morning in Bangkok with a local guide who took us on a long boat trip down the river and to Wat Pho (temple) just like at the end of my last tour but i didn't mind. The afternoon some of us visited the Grand Palace and this time it was open!! What an amazing place. Next to it is the kings old residence were his sister who died in january is lying in state. We got to watch part of a lying in state ceremony which was interesting. After here we took a tuktuk back to the hotel to meet the others. We then bid farewell to Bangkok and caught an overnight train to Chang Mia.
