Ive just spent 4 days at a hostel situated in the middle of Mlilwane wildlife sancutary. I was only suppose to say 2 days but its such a great place i stayed on, due to the people i meet and the fantastic views. Firstly i would like to say the only problem being in the middle somewhere is that you have to walk miles to get anywhere!! One direction was the main rest camp for the sanctuary which you could then get on to the walking trails and climb the moutain, the other direction lead to the main road where you could catch local buses in to town. The first day i was there a group of us went walking along one of the trails, we saw lots of wildlife such as zebra's, impala,s, wharthogs, hippo's and crocs. thats right hippo and croc's just metres away and know armed ranger with us as you could freely walk around!! We past quiet a few waterholes with cro'c in which was very scary as thought at any minute i was going to be eaten!! The hippo's were great and minding there own business in the middle of a large water hole thank goodness!! We eventually found ourselves at the bottom of the moutain so decided to climb it. Well what can i say after climbing rock surfaces, crawling throw caves we eventually reached the top and i was exhausted!! and we still had to get down!! all in all in took us 6 hrs!! and my poor feet had blisters to prove it - but the views had been amazing. That evening starving from all the energy we used we ate a traditional swazi dinner which you could put your name down for at the hostel. It was Impala stew!! Im so proud of myself for having it and i actually enjoyed it! That night we chilled out and laughed at the dumb osterich which spent its time wondering around doing stupid things!! The next day me and one of the girls i meet the day before headed off out the sanctuary in search of the Swazi cultural village which we were told was worth a visit. Well 3 hours of walking through fields chatting to locals along the way taking in the way of life these people live we eventually stumbled accross the main road. After asking a local we were miles away from where we were heading so we decided to hop on a bus and go into town and see the markets. What an experience travelling on a local bus. The bus station was packed of people stalls and lots of tooting horns!! We headed for a cafe to get some thing to drink somewhat parched from all the walking!! Here we bumped into the others from the hostel who had a good laugh at us for getting so lost, but seems we walked through a community and spoke to locals we figured that offered just as much as a puprose built community for tourists! After this we wondered around the market which had some amazing things but my bag is already to heavy so didn't buy anything!! On my last day in Swaziland i chilled out at the hostel my feet after 3 days of walking everywhere needed a rest a chance for my blisters to heal. It had been a great time and i hoped to meet up with the people i meet furthur on as they were great.
