This is the La Cite du Vin, a unique place devoted to the cultures of wine, a new wine centre opened in June last year. It was sensational. There were interactive displays like none we'd seen before. Of course it was mainly about French wine. Australian wines don't feature greatly in their presentation (Peter Lehman's son and the Barossa was the only representation). However the depiction of the history of wine making throughout the world was very well done. You walk through all the displays and access information via a hand held wifi type handset. The story of planting, harvesting, then making the wine was explained in detail as was the difficulties regarding pests etc faced by the wine industry.
When we were finished a couple of hours later we were treated to a glass of wine of our choice on the 8th floor of the building. Unfortunately is was pissing down with rain so it was impossible to take advantage of the photo opportunity.
