Day 23
Prague
Beautiful sunshine and a pleasant temperature greeted us this morning, just perfect for a day of sightseeing in amazing Prague. Prague has so many original buildings from the Gothic and Baroque periods, it's like walking through another time period.
We start the day on the underground rail network, which isn't so old, and boasts the longest escalator in Europe at 100m. The girls think this is great but I'm not so fussed.
We arrive in the centre of the old town and head towards the river. Our purpose today was to find a river cruise as that has been something I have wanted to do since listening to the Smetana piece, Vltava. This is the name of the river.
We walk across the Charles Bridge and find a tourist info place where we book for a two hour afternoon cruise.
We also found a music shop where Renee got to play bass. She is happy.
There are lots of tourists on the bridge and basically everywhere near the town centre. We arrive in the square just in time to hear, and see, the astronomical clock chime 11am and the trumpeter play his fanfare. The crowds disperse instantly, well at least thin out.
Did I mention we had an ice cream in a shop where Renee and Maddy sat in seats in the window?
We headed away from the crowds and back towards the river, finding a 'supermarket' along the way where we bought something for lunch. We decide to picnic by the river and relax while waiting for the time to pass before the cruise.
Needing the toilet becomes a challenge in a place like this, and other European cities. You have to pay for public toilets. Check out our photos to see Mads and Phils predicament.
Finally, we get on the boat for our cruise. It's actually quite warm and we may get sunburnt sitting on the top deck.
The boat gives us great views of the palace, the bridges and Vysehrad Fortress. We also have to go through a lock which is pretty amazing.
The trip is very scenic but by 2 hours the girls have had enough.
We head home, grab some dinner and retire at a decent hour ready for tomorrow.
Did I sing? Of course.

Lyn Peters I think everyone is getting a little tired - it has been a whirlwind tour so far.
