Suzanne and Simon's Travels
On our first day in Darwin we decided to have a day chilling out and aclimatising to the really hot weather. It was 33 degrees and bright sunshine. The only problem with Darwin is that the weather is so hot all you want to do is go to the beach for a swim but you cant go in the water anywhere because of the crocs.
We spent the day wandering around the town and doing a walking tour of the sights, there weren't really that many to see.
That evening we went to Aquascene, this is a place in the harbour where a high tide every day hundreds of fish come to be fed. They have been coming here for years. We saw loads of catfish, milk fish, barramundi and even a small stingray. It was great to see them all fighting over pieces of bread. You could even get them to take bread from your hand.
The following day we decided to go to a small wildlife park called Crocadylus. We travelled on two long bus journeys in the scorching heat with undisirable looking locals to arrive and be rather dissapointed by the place and the price we had to pay to get in. There were hundreds of young crocodiles all being bred to make handbags and for their meat. There were only a few big crocs which is what we really wanted to see. They were in small breeding pens and didn't look very happy.
We soon left to go on our long bus journey home.
