Hey y'all this is my last Australian blog... :( and it's gunna have to be a quicky as I'm in the airport for Thailand wooo!
The past two weeks have been so much fun and I've clocked up a lot of kilometres, travelling up. Started in Townsville where I stayed a night before heading out to magnetic island for 2 nights 3 days with the girls I met in noosa. The island was really pretty and very chilled out, so chilled I forgot to leave our resort for 2 days... The weather was so good I just sunbathed by the pool all day, then laid in hammocks at night talking and watching the stars.
After another night in Townsville, Aly's and I took the bus to mission beach which was like buck f*** no where! It's where everyone goes to do there regional farm work like picking bananas at 5am, I Deffo couldn't do it! We went out and the girls living there were so exited as it was there first night out in weeks, we watched a little gig but the place closed at 10pm ha! Next day we went to a baby wallaby sanctuary, it was in a woman's house and I think she'd actually fallen out the crazy tree herself. She was obsessed by the wallabies calling them her babies and they were covered in lipstick! But she did rescue them of the side of the road if there mums had been killed. They were the cutest little things though, all wrapped up in little blankets and fed through a bottle just like real babies.. I wanted to take one home! And she had a blue tongue lizard called avatar too, he was so cool. After that we literally had nothing to do we cooked dinner so early just to pass some time and then bed by 7 we felt like such grannies.
The next day we got our last greyhound bus up to cairns, it was actually quite sad I've spent days on that bus looking out of windows, daydreaming eating jelly sweets and coffee. Its crazy how many hours you can spend and still be in the middle of no where.
We were so exited for cairns to get to a town with shops, with things to do and nightclubs ha which is ridiculous. We stayed in gilligans which is just renowned as the party hostel, and that it was. Was so nice though massive, more like a hotel with big tv room and a pool and a nightclub attached... Dangerous, every night is party night. Met up with Stacey again (who I was travelling with before I left for Fiji) which was so nice! Also bumped into two Norwegian guys I met in Fiji, such a small world.
There's been a cyclone here, so unfortunately the sun has been pretty non existent and it's rained alot.. Lost a little bit of tan which sucked. One Saturday night we all stayed in had crisps, dip, chocolate and popcorn and watched a movie ha was just like uni again.. The next day we had the anterton tablelands day tour which was so much fun, who knew you could see so many different waterfalls in one day. Our tour guide was so funny, but we all had to tell everyone about ourselves and whether we folded or scrunched our toilet paper ha cringe! One old lady on our tour was a totally fruit loop and said she spat on her paper to make it cleaner whilst wiping ewh! She also closed her eyes whilst talking and swam all day in underwear, everything had all gone south so it wasn't a pretty sight- good entertainment for the day though. First stop was a lake, the guys were too p**** but we jumped straight in.. This lake only had a cold nipple rating of 3, however the worst was yet to come. Next we went on a rainforest trek, where there was a huge crater in the earth from a volcano, next to it was dinner falls which was so pretty.. So cold (nipple rating 7) the only way to get in was to jump off a rock and straight in, refreshing to say the least... So many leeches though which I swear were on me so I wigged myself out and couldn't stay in long. Then we went to lunch in a typical Ozzie pub, where the landlord refused to even acknowledge what water was, an had tequila shots all round.
After lunch we went to the famous millaa millaa falls where Peter Andre shot his famous and one hit wonder mysterious girl! And also the herbal essences advert, so obviously the standard hair flick photo shots had to Be done! This was a nipple rating of ten oh my god it was so cold our lips actually went blue! We swam all the way out to the waterfall, it was so strong though it was pushing me down so I couldn't swim through it had to go round but climbed on all the rocks and finally got inside was so loud but so pretty and cool, felt like pochahuntas (not entirely sure how you spell that one but sure you know who I mean.) but swam through it on the way out, luckily we had blankets on the bus as it was so cold.. Being in the rainforest the temperature drops quite considerably and it's called the rainforest for a reason as it bloody rains alot. The views on the bus to each waterfall was amazing! So much smog coming up and out of all the rainforest covered in lushous green, mountains and banana farms every where! The banana tasted amazing as they're naturally ripe as usually there picked green and chemically ripened to make them last! ( little banana fact for you there)
The last place we went I were joshaphine falls, which was like a natural water slide. Made the rapids at centre parcs look crap! You could only go on them on certain days because of the current and water drift can be so bad you wouldn't survive. It was so much fun though, had to push yourself through the tide and then climb up the slippery rocks which believe me I fell down a fair few times and then push yourself down off the waterfall. Everyone went to get out, but who had to get rescued with rope- me of course! The current was so bloody strong it was pushing me along and I just had no upper body strength to pull myself through it. I was just like omg if I carry on its gonna be like the cartoons were they fall right off the waterfall edge! Felt like a right drip, but that's standard I guess.
To recover we had tea and biscuits (Tim tams are my new favourite thing) then headed back in time for a night out.
Next day we were reunited with Stacey and Hollie and we were all in a room together which was nice as it was like one big sleep over, the rest of the time is pretty much the same chilling in the day time, making noodles constantly and then going out at night, gilligans nightclub was so much fun, never had a bad night out. Ooo we did cook kangaroo burgers one night though, oh my god yummiest thing ever! So much better than beef.
I've stayed in cairns for a week and a half (for a backpacker that's the longest time ever I reckon). But I honestly met the funniest and nicest people; from the funniest German guy I will ever meet to the most craziest loudest Irish girl ever and my lovely girls! Actually getting all emotional sat here in the airport thinking about it, honestly the past 2 months have been so incredible... I've learnt so much about the world and myself and met so many different people and yet I'm not even halfway through my trip! Traveling has its lows but generally the good out ways the bad if it wasn't for missing my friends and family like mad I'd never want to come home.
And so that brings me to now, my Australian east coast adventure is done no more goon or cheap crisps or 'no worries mate' sayings and I'm sat waiting to board my plane to Bangkok I'm so so sooo excited and nervous but 3 months in Asia here I come!
