Bulaaaaa (hello in Fijian) hundreds of mosquito bites, 2 weeks without shoes, the bluest sea I have ever seen and lots of sunshine later my 2 week Fiji adventure has come to an end! Words can't describe how amazing and beautiful this place is! I don't think anything can really prepare you for how nice it is here and all the Fijian people are the nicest race I have ever met, there just so kind, friendly and love life! Puts everything into perspective when we constantly moan at home about so little! Honestly don't know where to begin but I suppose from the start always makes sense, so the first day I stayed at nadi bay hotel where I practically just sunbathed by the pool for 2 days, met a pilot who just flys round the islands all day then just comes back eats and drinks- I didn't realise but the next day he'd apparently requested to have dinner with me and then later actually casually asked if I'd like to Marry him to which I replied if all else fails in life ill get back to you, shame he was in his 40's, a bit over weight and half way across the world because its the most attention I've really had in months ha! Got introduced also to cava, which is made from a root plant. it looks like muddy dish water and tastes like it too but it's a sacred Fijian drink that's meant to be halucacenic they love it over here. on some islands it's all they're allowed if they get caught drinking alcohol they get arrested! All it did for me though was make my mouth numb and make me want to sleep, To which i did. The 3rd day it was time to island hop met Amy at the port and decided to go to manta ray island with her, the boat ride there however was horrific I've never experienced sea sickness like it the waves were coming up over the boat and people screaming didnt help. However it was well worth it as manta ray was so beautiful, you had to pay extra for your meals but my god was the food good! Fresh fish with veg, 2 starters, endless fresh fruit. Eating all this amazing food 3 times a day btw has made me develop a Fiji food baby! It took me days to actually take in I was in Fiji I kept wanting to pinch myself, I woke up a few times on the first island with my mosquito net round me like omg where the hell am I? I've also practically slept outside for 2 weeks because non of the dorms have glass in the windows, as well as walking round with no shoes or make up, cold showers and only electricity a few hours a night- Mother Nature eat your heart out! The sea every where is so warm like a bath with fish just swimming round you, it's incredible! The small world it is met another guy from Norwich who insisted upon wearing his Norwich city top too ha oh the shame, but we had night of Fijian games and crab racing! The fourth day I made a coconut bracelet from you guessed it a coconut but it was actually alot of hard work, then a group of us moved on to go to Koravu island all of the islands greet you and say good bye with guitars and singing its so beautiful they all have amazing voices! Koravu was equally as beautiful my day consisted of more food and more lying in the sun in a hammock having naps whilst listening to the waves, it was like my brain has switched off my biggest problem of the day was when to shower! We watched the sunset which was so beautiful never seen one like it, the whole sky turned purple even the sea! I did start to feel like I'd turned into an animal however lying around all day just waiting for a drum or bell to ring to say it was food time to which we'd all leg it there! That fourth night we all had to learn the bula dance which involved alot of thrusting not sure if that's tribal or something they've recently added just for there own enjoyment to watch tourists do! The Fijian guys on this island were so friendly and funny, so at 11 when the electric went out we all joined them at the end of the beach with a fire where they sat singing songs with a guitar there voices were seriously beautiful, I just sat listening whilst watching the Stars as they're so bright here. It was one of those surreal wow moments in life where you just appreciate everything, that was until they started to play one direction ha was so weird. On the fifth day much more of the same, eating, lying in a hammock so to give ourselves more substance and to try burn some of my Fiji food baby off 3 of us decided to trek right to the top of the korovu mountain- well oh my god never again, I have never sweated so much in my life and believe you me this trip has made me sweat alot it was like hours spent in the gym not to mention we stupidly went at the hottest point in the day. We climbed this windy trek through trees, rocks with streams down them, even swung on vines to get to the next part no joke I literally felt like Tarzan! After what seemed like hours but probably wasn't, and alot of cut legs and arms later we reached the top the views were beautiful even went to the other side and saw a big Fijian village! The trek down was just as hard my clumsy ness finally set in, as of course it had to at some point and I spend the majority of the way down slipping on mud and on my arse-good job there's a bit of cushioning there aye! On the 6th day and the last one at korovu we were just checking out and got asked by one of the guys did we want to do a free snorkelling trip out the the reef, even though our boat was due to come at half 11 we were just like ahh it has to be done, who says no to free?! So we bundled on the boat took half an hour to get there but on the way we saw dolphins swim, we got told to tap the side of the boat and they swim up and jump right near you... Such show offs but was amazing! The snorkelling was even better I couldn't actually believe how many incredible fish there were I felt like I was swimming in a clip from finding nemo it actually is like in the film where there's the coral and then as soon as its finished you drop off in to the big ocean where it's alot colder and you can't see! We got back to the island with 2 mins to spare before our big boat which was pretty good going I'd say. Then we got our boat right to the top of the yasawa islands, number 26 so glad I bothered to go that far up because the islands and water up there is just amazing you practically need sun glasses to look at the sea. There we stayed on a small piece of land with sea either side of us and our dorm right on the beach it was lovely going to sleep listening to the waves, even if it meant getting bitten to shreds I actually have 12 bites on my face which is ever such an attractive look! Again spent more time in hammocks whilst listening to bob Marley, they love him out here- because there mantra is dont worry be happy! We went for a village trip on the other side of the island which was a real eye opener, there was alot of poverty with poorly made huts but still they were all so happy again makes you realise to be greatful for everything we have! There only income too is tourism so I bought a few bracelets, we met the chief too who told us the children go to school to learn English and that's it they have to learn Fijian at home which I thought was crazy! That's another thing I take for granted how many people just speak English and we expect them too, I've decided when I get home I want to learn a language and more about different cultures! The owners little girl called Aushelia became my new little side kick she was so sooooo cute and followed me every where she was only two and spoke such good English, she even insisted upon trying to put makeup on like me and her hair bless her but I think one gracie suttons more than enough for the world! So I think I'm up to the seventh day sorry for all this ramble but we went and took a boat trip to do some cave diving which was so much fun! I was crapping it because to get to one cave to another you have to go under water and swim to the other side but it was fine! We were getting out of the boat though, and the Chinese girl was like wait I need my life jacket and everyone was like errrr you won't need one of those?!! To which she shreaked 'but I can't swim' haha oh god I laughed. But credit given to her she did it with a bloody life jacket on the guys just shoved her under and dragged her through to which I couldn't of done! They did occasionally just let her float off in the dark cave by herself for there own amusement though which was pretty funny. The first cave was so amazing it was so tall some of the guys climbed all the way to the top and jumped in to which there was no way I was doing that, and the water was freezing.. I didn't even want to think about what was in the water with us too. Especially in the second cave where it was completely pitch black couldn't see a thing but your voice echoed for ages so it must of been big! That afternoon we did basket weaving made from palm leaves which was so clever and resourceful and then frisbee golf which was actually alot of fun I even managed to not knock anyone out! The next day it was time to leave, we got the islands small boat out to catch the big boat however once we were out there we got told it had broken down! So there we were, stuck out at sea the boiling midday sun beating down and clever me over here forgot to put cream on my face I looked like a ripe little tomato! Had to say bye to the group as they'd finished island hopping, but I still had 3 more days so I continued to wayalaila for two nights then to beach comber for one which is meant to be the party island. It was good but not very busy as its still early season however the dorms were crazy they literally slotted into each other in all different angles like a puzzle, it's said to be one of the biggest dorms in the world which is ironic seeing as you can walk round the whole island in ten mins! Anyway met a lovely group of English girls and two Norwegian guys and we still had fun the dance floors even just sand, classically though I had to take it one step further and jump in the pool didnt I! Woke up the next morning like ahh why am I wet?! Hangover, now a cold and sunstroke from to much lying in a hammock and not enough water from the day before (lesson learnt there) I had to make my way back to the main land! You can imagine that was fun on a boat, one minute I was shivering cold and the next I was pouring with sweat and so hot! Then on the bus back there was a mix up with my luggage so I had to wait till the last stop of the journey till they could get my stuff and take me back to my hotel.. Omg I wanted to die! Spent the last two days again recovering by the pool, sure that's what the doctor would of ordered?! Looking forward to getting back to Australia for round 2 but Fiji was better that I could of imagined, postcard perfect! can't wait to upload some photos even though my camera just doesn't do it justice. Again lots of love to everyone at home missing you all like crazy xxx
