We were soon on our way and we got to the Botswana side of the border about 2 hours later. Here we filled in our departure cards and queued for a good hour before we were stamped out of the country. Then we had to enter Namibia so once across no mans land we filled in arrival cards and waited but luckily not for so long this side. We all got stamped in smoothly and got back in the truck. Border crossings are so much less hectic and less daunting in a group - it'll be so weird crossing the ones in South America alone.
In Namibia we had a short shop stop on the way to the capital city. We didn't arrive until 3pm which meant there was no point in going into town as everything would be shutting so instead we excitedly checked into our hotel room (yes I did say hotel room!!) and walked over to the pool area. We relaxed here for a while before returning to the sanctuary of our own room.
Nicole and Tony asked us if we wanted to share a pizza with them instead of going out, so we thought of our diminishing budget and sensibly decided to join them. The reason we were staying in a hotel was because this was the last leg of this part of the trip. The guides and most of the people were continuing on to Cape Town but Lori, Steve and Lee were getting off the truck here. So before sharing pizza, we found the three of them to say goodbye because they were going out for dinner and drinks with the rest of the group. Neil and I enjoyed pizza with Nicole and Tony and relaxed watching a couple of films.
We both took long hot showers and enjoyed being able to lounge around on a bed! It's funny how the small things become big pleasures when you don't have them. We snuggled down in bed enjoying our last bedded sleep for a while.
We had a lovely night's sleep and ate a delicious hotel breakfast wondering where Sam and Richard were but they soon turned up with hangovers not long before we left. We said goodbye to Lee again and got back in the truck.
Lots of love and African kisses xx
