konichiwa people, had my first proper day in tokyo today minus jet lag! went on a quick visit to all the major places in tokyo took me all day and i think i've walked about twenty miles. i kinda knew what to expect comin here but its still totally blown me away, the people are ssoooooo friendly a family stopped me today so that their little girl could practice her english (she was only 4) and she could speak better english than cas! had my first japanese meal! it was a big mac meal! what a gourmet i am! the thing is its really hard to tell what is a food place and what isnt coz all the fronts are covered so you cant see in (very private are the japanese) and anyway it was onlt 2 quid. i later found that the shopping centres have open food courts so i toddled over there and had some proper japanese food in whats called a beer hall! sweet. travelled around all day on a 3 quid ticket. japan is actually quite cheap if want it to be. today was just a bit of a reckie saw some of the tourist sites but gonna take my guide book next time though coz its pretty hard to find your way around, i got lost in shinjuku for a bit but shinjuku is a bonkers place, it has the busiest tube station in the world apparently, so there. on the down side there is a severe shortage of bars in tokyo, the places that do serve beer only really do so with food so at about 5-6 o'clock the food places are rammed full of white collar workers getting as much sake down them in as little time possible whilst nibbling on a bowl of rice.so my mission for this evening is to find a bar somwhere and get outside of a few myself. kampai!! dave. ps sorry if spelling etc is poor but im typing real quick coz i've only got 10 mins internet access! ta ra!
