Tomorrow we leave this deightful region. I needed to have a part 2, mainly because of the beautiful scenery that entices me to take more photos, and thus to share them.
Even in the short time we have been here we notice Bellagio is winding down for the season. One hotel along the waterfront is now closed, many shops finished trading on Sunday.
As we speak to many workers or owners of businesses in the hospitality industry, the stories are the same. They had an extremely busy "summer" season this year (probably every season is the same). They worked long days and (presumably make heaps of money), although that is not verbalised. Then from first week in November start the "hibernation".
Owners leave Bellagio and travel somewhere warm for their "winter", while workers have said, they live here or on other side of the lake and just take two months off.
It is very much a seasonable region, dicatated by the many tourists, pre-dominately from US, England but also Europe, Australia and NZ.
You can understand why many flock here, it is hot apparently in summer, with high humidity but for us, maximum days 17, one day 20, today 16 are noticeably cooler. Even the trees lining the waterfront have shed more leaves in the days we have been here.
We certainly will leave with much contentment and gratitude to the welcome from the Italians, the food, of course and the natural beauty.
We visited their local church this morning, what a beauty. The locals certainly keep the faith alive here.
You will have noticed some blogs arriving, out of sequence. That is because of the peace and beauty and better internet speed, I have been able to complete some and almost completed others which I will finish off in Panicale and send.
Hopefully by this weekend I will be up to date (still outstanding are three ports of call from the ship but they are coming).
Greetings to you all, hope you are enjoying my travelogue.
