An interesting start to the day. A 9am wake up call courtesy of the hotel broadcasting a disaster siren and announcement that there has been an emergency, please evacuate immediately. We did as told and were hanging around near the front of the hotel when a fire appliance arrived. We set off for DC by car, it seems everyone else had the same idea and we got there slowly amid all the traffic. It's Saturday and it would appear the locals like to hit DC and play in the parks etc. Given most live in apartments I guess it makes sense.
