We started the day off heading north for a quick 3 hour run this morning up the highway through Georgia farmland, field after field of peaches and cotton. Atlanta was the aim purely so we could check out the Atlanta Aquarium.
Well, that was the plan lol
We got sidetracked along the way, a little over an hour short of the aquarium we spotted a sign saying Robins Air Force Base Aviation Museum. And so it was that we had day 2 of boy stuff. Pete was a very happy lad after poking his nose around that place. It is huge with loads of displays requiring more time than we gave them but he got to see what he'd hoped to including his beloved F1-11's
Back on track we headed to Atlantic, from the distance as we drove into the city it looked very much approaching Brisbane form the GC. Looks like a nice clean city, lots of trees.
The aquarium was pretty good, far from huge or extensive but well laid out and had all we wanted to see. The first stop was the whale sharks, awesome :-). In with them were rays, sharks and fish incl tuna.
The 2nd display was a tropical reef, all the usual suspects in there with some nice corals. It's only a newish aquarium so once it all grows in it'll be pretty impressive. There were some orange shoulders in all stages from juvenile through to like ours and beyond, interesting to see where ours is headed.
There was a cold water touch tank with some gorgeous starfish and cold water anemones. The main tank in the cold water display had a pair of belugas accompanied by a few smallish seals. There was also a tank with a trio of otters, very cruisy dudes Lol
We left there and started driving towards the Carolinas, planning on getting some way towards Charlotte. We struck a little peak hour traffic in Atlanta but from then on it was plain sailing. In the end we've come all the way to Charlotte Nth Carolina for the night.
