So five days have just passed and I've finally settled down and found a quiet moment to type another blog. Such was my intense visit of San Francisco.
Difficult to know where to start. Once again I met some great people. I was lucky enough to be thrown in a dorm with Paul & Pete.
Paul lives in LA and Pete is from Leicester (OK not everyone is perfect!) they were mates from uni and Paul is visiting for a while.
We immediately bonded and throw in free beer at the hostel, vodka & red bull, blue moon and that was just the tonic for a messy weekend.
We did throw in a few tourist & sightseeing trips. Unfortunately we couldn't make Alcatraz as it was fully booked due to labor day weekend (our equivalent is bank holiday Monday).
We visited Chinatown which is apparently the largest & most 'Chinese' Chinatown outside of China (memories).
Also on the agenda was North Beach (pictured) which is a cool Italian district. Never before have I seen someone toss a pizza dough in the park as an activity.
Next up was fishermans wharf which is a very touristy place on the bay. Here is where we were able to take pictures of Alcatraz but not visit.
Further along is Crissy Field which provides an excellent photo opportunity of the golden gate bridge.
On the Sunday we went to a baseball game. The San Francisco Giants versus the Arizona Dimond Backs. This was a great experience. The atmosphere was a little more relaxed to what I'm used to at the football. It was a great day in the sun and very much like going to watch cricket (however I understand the baseball rules more).
Back to the touristy stuff and we took a tram ride (they call it cable car) back to union square.
Back to the drinking now & on Sunday evening we met up with Anita my friend Lena's twin sister. When I say twin I actually thought I was out with Lena. They took us around the mission area which was a great spot for going out.
So there was my San Francisco trip in a nutshell. It's a shame I couldn't do Alcatraz, but there's my excuse for returning to San Francisco which is highly likely.
I'm now working my way down the coast now and have arranged to meet up with my new friends in LA at the end of the week.
