The last couple of days have seen a partial reunion of the famous 'Team Old' from Vietnam (sorry Vicki, you we're left out but you'll have your reunion soon enough!)
Yes I took the short drive over to the Napa Valley to meet Jill who temporarily lives there until she moves over to New York (coincidentally a day after I fly there!)
It was fantastic to meet up again and share stories from what happened on our respective trips after we parted ways.
In no time at all I was whisked to the Beringer winery where we tasted some of California's finest wines. For those that didn't know already California is famous for wines, and Napa is where most of it happens. Basically the place is packed with endless grape fields.
On that evening we went over to Jill's friends who kindly cooked us some great Argentinean food. We played some drinking games and it was always going downhill after that. It was a top night though and yet another example of the great American hospitality.
Day two was all about losing the hangover by any means possible. We tried Burrito's, Swimming and even babysitting (what we're we thinking!?) and eventually time was the greatest healer.
Last night I went to visit Pat & Dave's son Ryan and his Girlfriend Lynda's house. We went out for a meal and it was great to catch up after nearly 15 years without seeing him.
Today I took a morning tour of Sacramento where I visited the 'Old Town' which had some preparations in place for the big Labor Day weekend (the equivalent of our August Bank Holiday).
I also went to see the capital building and shortly after came back to Pat & Dave's which felt like I was coming home (that's how welcome they've made me feel!)
After a visit to the member's pool, and an afternoon in the sun, I rode back in the golf cart to some early evening cocktails. For dinner we had Mexican chicken and I watched my first baseball game, the St Louis Cardinals were my newly adopted team and they won too!!
I took my customary pre bedtime spa which would never be the same without a nice ice cold Stella to finish the evening off. Tomorrow will be more relaxed as I plan my trip to San Francisco on Friday. May the adventures continue!
