Our fun at Kevin's Island came to an end on February 21st at around 2:30pm. We had a boat ride back to the island and immediately headed towards Flores, which is also small island in itself just a few hours from Tikal. This one stop was quick and meant to be a stop over.

By the time we arrived there it was around 6:30pm and it was getting dark when we got there but the night life there is very interesting! People, food and music blaring in the streets. It was.. it was.. well, it was bitter sweet since i was starting to get sick again and I couldn't eat :P The sights and sounds where nice anyway.

The next morning at 6am we were up and heading towards my first Mayan ruins! Tikal!!

Tikal is one of the largest excavated Mayan sights in Central America. Tikal is apparently the name of the chef at the time of the fall of the city, but there were many rulers. Buildings there are from betwen 200bc to 500ac.

I'll be uploading a bunch of pictures from the Tikal ruins. Words just don't do it justice. It was amazingly beautiful and mysterious. Our guide explained in detail their assumptions of these sights must have represented though you have to take it all with a grain of salt because there's just so much they don't know. For example how these monuments were constructed or what they were actually used for. What they can say for certainty is what they found ie: skeletons used for sacrifice, but how did they chose their victims?

After Tikal we headed towards Belize. Which is primarily a black English speaking society. Their accent sounds a bit Jamacain and Caribbean. Nothing much to say about this place. The architecture is nothing to write home about, so I won't :P Although a small group of us are going to check out some spots later today. I'll let you guys know how it's goes!
