Stuey's Travel
My plan for today, penned 4months out, was to ride Mont Revard, weather permitting. Mont Revard is an imposing sight. It sits above Aix Les Bains looking down over the town and Lac du Bourget. At 1500m it is also a challenging climb on the bike with a couple of soft kms in the middle but the remainder is mostly 7 and 8% gradient.
Luckily the weather this morning was favourable, cloudy with 26deg Max. After a hearty breakfast (plenty of lardons, croissants and cafe) I rode through town and up the Revard.
Stopped for a few fotos along the way and a coffee at Mouxy.
Plenty of people at the top enjoying the brilliant view down over Lac du Bourget. Like the Grand Canyon, there is a glass walkway that hangs about 10m over the precipice with a 1000m drop below over a sheer cliff face.
Looking easterly you could also see Mt Blanc, visible today without the low cloud unusually. Didn't last long though before low cloud and most wafted over and blocked the vision.
On the descent I came across a guy building a chalet on spec. He was keen for a chat although he spoke no English. Upshot is he expects to finish the build by September and the price tag is €300,000. Sounds pretty good for a 3 storey chalet with 4 bedrooms, a 1st floor deck and under roof garage. Only 1km from the top.
Lazy afternoon today, very late and light lunch and a little shopping, off to a swank restaurant tonight around the other side of the lake.
Dinner was an absolute pleasure at Atmospheres. Eaten here 3 times now since 2015.Always exceptional and tonight was the same. I had a 7 course degustation that ultimately became 10 courses with the freebies they threw in. PS. About 3pm. Just pulled up in the car park of the local supermarket and spotted an old lady stumble and fall flat on her face. Nobody responded, people just walked straight past. I quickly walked over and helped her up, another lady helped me. I asked her in French was she ok ..."Ca va?....and she responded Ca va bien....I'm alright. Tough old lady, I reckon she was +90yrs.
